I've done what I guess could be a budget build. I have a wife and 2 kids so extra money is something I don't have to often. Everthing in my sig is on my truck, installed my self for under 3000k. I've found deals on used parts built parts myself and traded for parts. My stall shift kit and tires were the only things I bought new.

I did have some body work done but my sister-in-laws insurance paid for that.

I'd hate to know what I've spent in just filling nitrous bottles and replacing transmissions/converters....

all of the $100 trips to stores dont count, unless you can remember each and every one! but anytime you take your truck apart you can always count on 1 or 2 of those no matter how prepared you are!

Here's what I got so far, slow and steady:

2006 GMC RCSB W/T 4.8/auto new from dealer: $13,038 out the door
Tint the day I got it: $170
Wheels and Tires: $1000
Rear shackles: $40
Corsa Exhaust: $350 used
Tailpipes: $30 homemade from 2.5" tubing
GM Foglight kit: $150
Color matched handles: $150
Bumpers/paint: $550
Grille: $150
LineX: $470
Silverado Taillights: $100
Clear Corners/Headlights: $250
Denali Dash bezel: $70
Silverado SS Cluster, programmed: $200
Custom tune: $200
Cold air intake: $170

So I've got $17k or so spent on a work truck I bought so I could put money into my Camaros, oops.

I keep up with it nowadays because the Camaro sitting in my garage that I haven't driven in a year and a half has well over $30k dumped in it since I bought it at 18 and is hardly even a staring point for a hot rod. Planning and scrounging go a long way in having an enjoyable hobby instead of a cluster **** of last minute decisions.

Yes, on the product u buy for 0%. No, as it regards payoff on truck. Slow is just sayin it creates a delay in total payoff (IT'D BE SOONER & therefore, less interest. )

So even if they try to save there mod money month to month to pay off there truck, they still have a truck payment to make each month, so why not have both..

John
+1. Most can't payoff or just pay $ for a new truck. I'm guilty of payin some interest on mods, but I usu. pay cash for parts or it'll just wait. Some sales are too good to pass on. My purchases are thought out to some degree.

I still have a budget and I follow it, I still have some debt but I am ok with it cause what is the point in busting my a** everyday at work if it takes a few years to enjoy the fruits of my labor... I have worked ever since I was 15, put myself threw college, engineering/comp sci major, built a house at 24 and bought all of my cars/truck by myself... IMO if someone just mods moderately then IMO that is OK, when people go over board then that is a different story... Most of my mod money comes for overtime and bonuses I get from work...

Make sense....
Hats off to you. O/T justifies it, since it's $ u otherwise wouldn't have to play or be responsible. That is a good way of doing mods.

IIRC, public viewing can be disabled.
Insane, since I don't think most have spent that much...yet or they don't wanna know.
