Anyway, if I had $30-33k, I'd get my same truck ($24k), add a Radix ($5k), 80E swap (~$2k installed?) and a posi (~$500 installed ?) and kick the **** out of an L.

Im now toying with the idea of doin a few more little things to my truck and then giving it to my brother and getting a new L. I really dont like Fords, but making a chevy comparably fast just requires so much work, waiting and downtime. Besides, I think the new interiors are sharp. Add to that the factory body kit, lowered, bigger wheels, factory blower, built tranny and rearend, ****, with 5-8K I could have a killer truck. Ive already got near 14K in upgrades to my truck and I doubt I'll be able to get into mid 13's before the tranny goes and thats running 12# probably, tack on the 42K sticker and Ive got 56K in a vehicle that really isnt that quick at all.
What do you guys think??
Maybe you guys could give me a breakdown of what you would do to compete with a new L. Say you have about 40-45K total. Dont forget to add in some labor costs since I dont have that kind of mechanical knowledge and my friends dont work on Fords.
I think L's are great for those that don't work on their own vehicles. they're probably a more trouble free way to go fast right out of the box.

If you don't ENJOY laying under your truck every night, logging tuning, dealing with downtime when you break something, then get an L, throw a 4lb pulley, chip, and tires and be done.

For me, and probably most of the guys on here, the fun part is when you're modding and working to make it faster. when you get to the point where the project's done, Its no fun anymore, and I'd rather sell it and start a new project.

My cousin likes to go fast, but refuses to even change his own oil and panics when his ses light comes on. Nothing against him, but he'd be a better candidate for an L.

Ya, good points. I get frustrated since I have little to no skill in working on my truck. Its getting irritated having to wait to get all of this done and it just seems like Im going to have to go so deep into this thing to get it where I want it to be.
It was just a fleeting thought. Guess I'll have to stick around and continue to ask dumb repetitive questions.
Good point... a fast Tahoe would be way cooler than a fast lightning.
Next round or purchases will be built 4L60 and 6.0 with forged pistons, rods, and arp bolts. Then I'll see how long the tranny holds up to 14lbs (with a good tune of course).
Hopefully I'll hit high 12's on 20's , but probably not. Cant hurt to dream right??!!

Reg Cab...useless, and 2wd. If they made that Harley 4x4/AWD I'd be in one.

I personally like Lightnings becuase they have a lot potential. However, everybody and thier mother knows they are fast. I rather make my Sierra faster becuase I like being asked "what did you do to your truck?"

I've got about $1500 in performance mods to my truck. Its and Extended cab 2wd, with a Yank converter ($700), a HPPIII ($300), AEM intake ($235), and Magnaflow catback ($320). It ran a 14.57. That day I ran a stock lightning and went a 14.71 to his 14.61. (why couldn't I have went the 14.57 that round??!) Anyway, I got kids and need the Extended cab, and even though I know they can go faster for less money, I got about $20,000 in my whole truck, and am right there with em'. 5.4 Liter regular cab with a supercharger vs. 5.3 extended cab N/A, sorry, I'm not impressed.
