Just pulled my 5.3 out of my 2001 it was running good with 263,000. I replaced it with a 2005. 5.3 with 34,000 miles and did a cam swap.

My brother's '00 4.8l kicked the bucket at 215k, because of Castech heads. The TSB said they only came on 01-06 engines, so I never bothered checking for them. Way stupid on my part, considering how bad it would sludge up the oil and drink coolant.

I've seen more than one original unopened engine with over 400K. One I distinctly remember that hit the half mil mark....

my motor has 286,000 never have to put in any oil and i run the **** out of it. just saw the other day i blew my rear main seal so it leaks about 1 quart every oil change so nothing to major. i run mobil one 10-30 year round, pulled the stock tranny at 273,000 just to put a built one in it. sold it and its still going the last time i checked.

105k '04 LM7 in my daily. Doesn't drink a drop of oil and runs like a top...especially thanks to the LTs and new plugs I dropped in yesterday. Still average 17-18 everyday as long as i keep my foot of the skinny pedal.

Mine made it to 142,000 miles before it needed a bearing and a ring. Bored it out and made a bigger engine.
