Default How many miles does your GM 5.3l have?

Ok we all know the 5.3L engine is a long lasting durable motor. Just how long can they last????

I bought my 2001 Silverado a year ago with 253,000 miles on it. Now it has 273,000 Miles on it and it and it uses oil between services so I know its getting to the worn out point.

WOW! That's awesome that you have that many miles!

I have a 2002 with 91,7xx, the engine has gone threw 3 transmissions, 1 transfer case, 1 drive shaft and one rear differential. So I think that she'll be kicking for a while.

Very impressive! Compared to yours, mine is just a baby at 110k. No engine problems at all, burned clutches in one transmission at 58k though due to bad tuner (wait4me).

I had a little over 100k with no problems or oil burning when I swapped in the 6.0.

Slightly off topic, I now have over 200k now on my stock 4L60E. I only added a a Corvette servo, a large plate-and-fin cooler, and a custom tune made by myself. I'm not easy on it either.

I have 128,000 on my 2001. Uses a bit of oil, but nothing horrible.

The original 5.3 out of my Z had 183K on it when I pulled it in 05, it still looked great. It was cammed and had almost 40 bottles of nitrous through it. Im sure it couldve gone a lot longer.

I ran across one the other day that a dealer had on trade in. Verified original engine with original owner and had 470k or so on it. Extended cab 4wd if I remember correctly. The engine 1slow01z71 is referring to, still had the factory cross hatch hone marks in the cyl with 180k miles on it.
Just because it uses a little oil doesn't mean much. Keep it full of oil and it should last longer than you are willing to stay with it. Provided no extreme abuse....
40 years ago they kept oil with them for regular additions to new cars. So now after 200k and needs a little oil every now and then is just fine.
Every good gen3 engine I've torn down has had very minimal wear on the bearings as well.
