How do you remove the door handles. (exterior)

Default How do you remove the door handles. (exterior)

Like the title reads, im going to send em off to paint and wanted to know how you remove them, dont want to break something off. TIA.


*edit* Also how do you remove the tailgate handle?

dont quote me.. but the plastic plug on the door inner comes out , and I believe there is a bolt behind that... but dont forget to disconnect the linkages...

It may be best to remove the door panel to see what you are doing.

there are 3 nuts total. One is removed by the rubber plug mentioned the other 2 have to come off by removing the door panel on the inside and pulling back the plastic. make sure the window is rolled up all the way and reach your hand up behind the window track and you will find the other 2. you can see them both with a flashlight with the door panel off. It is really not a big deal. I had a 10mm ratcheting wrench that helped out alot. be careful not to drop the nuts in the bottom of the door. Total time approx. 10 min per side. Good luck you can handle it.
