Default how can my ecsb keep up?

i have an 02 ecsb my buddy has an 03 rcsb. 5.3's , we have same intake, exhaust, wheel size. i have been boasting about my nellson m/o tune. he doesn't understand the custom tune thing. he purchased a new superchip hand held and installed it yesterday. all hes been doing is bad mouthin the custom tune scince...i try telling him about tqm and abuse modes ect., but i'm feeling he's thinkin he's better off with the hand held. to each his own.

now i want to race him....i'm 500 or so pounds heavier with ec and have a few less hp, but i think the nelson tune might be a little hotter (93) then his superchip, i'm reduced tqm 60% i think,160 stat, and a four link to make it stick.

i just want to keep up with him. could his 100% tqm hold him down enough, if mine was set at zero tqm and i had a shift kit?

i know its a long shot but man it would feel good to check him.
i just want to keep up.

Why are you so interested in keeping up?? If you want a fast truck, mod it. A converter or dry kit will put you on top. To help you decide, find out your respective weights. For every 100lbs you give up to him he will have about .1 on you. So if he is 500lbs lighter than you that means that Nelson tune would have to give you 50hp over his setup. Doubtful

so is removing tqm not gonna give any tenths back? i think it does. just don't know how much.
tqm 100% removed and a shift kit has to do something for me vs. his stock trans settings.

and if you believe the hype on a nelson vs. handheld thats gotta be in my favor......

and if for some silly reason traction came into play my four link might help.

as far as wanting a fast truck and mods go we both have big plans for the future but now is now.......and this is all we have

I have 0% TQM, a Billet servo, and Shift Firmness slightly increased w/ LS1 Edit. When racing single cab or ext. cab 5.3s, I usually will jump/gain about half of truck or a whole truck length on the 1-2 shift. I think it really helps out, not too much as far as times go though. MAYBE a little less than a tenth.

100% removal may give you a tenth or a little less, but not enough to make up for 500lbs. I know all about the uphill battle with the heavier vehicle. I wouldnt race the SS down the street from me for the longest time. He thought he was going to wipe the floor with my big *** Tahoe. You can imagine his eventual surprise. Me..... Id get a used nitrous kit and bust his ***

i know how to buy performance mods to get faster........thats obvious.........i just wanted a little feed back on where i might be if we ran now......i'm having a little issue with him and all his little wanna be gromet buddies thinking superchips handheld is better than a custum tune and saying how his truck is soooo fast scince the superchips........it just buggs.......are trucks are modded the same except tuning he's getting a vortec sc real soon because of price.......i'm saving up for a radix next year. maybe then i'll get him.
