Default Horn y not working?

I swear I had the same problem on my '03 and the Envoy does it too. The horn works when it wants to. It seems the contacts under the center section of the steerig wheel need cleaning? I'm sure it's the wiring there because the horn works fine when electronicall triggered by the key fob.

If I play with the steering wheel pad, like wiggle it I can find contact-get sound and then it works but otherwise it won't work. Does anyone have a step by step way to get to the contacts without screwing with the airbag..is that a stupid question?

Gotta remove the airbag. Side of the steering wheel there are a couple holes. Gotta pick those locks with small screw driver or the like and the airbag will pull out. Just unplug it. After that it will be obvious for the horn ground.

In all seriousness just disconnect the battery and use 2 scratch awl's and put one in each hole at the base of your steering wheel and press on the spring loaded tabs. The airbag will come out easy as pie.

You might have a busted wire in the steering column...

Horn Y LOL!!!!

Reminds me of the dodge in saw the other day, It was a " Big Horn" edition and the guy added a " Y" badge hence the " BIG HORNY" edition LOL!

I use the sharp end of my test light to un lock the air bag. I always leave the batt hooked up, never had an issue. Like said once thats off you'll see the horn wires.

Mine does the same thing. About once a year I have to clean the contacts.
