I've done many engine swaps by myself, I like working alone whenever possible...helping hands just seem to get in my way. If the person that's helping you isn't an idiot though, it does help to have someone there to help guide the engine in as you lower it.

You should be able to get to all of them. Get the upper ones from up top after you pull the intake manifold, and get the lower ones from under the truck. Pulling the plastic inner fenders helps a lot too, then you can get to stuff from inside the wheel well.

only person i can work with on an engine pull is really close friend basically my brother. thats because we've only done like 30 of them together so we know each other abilities and strengths and work the same way if you work with some one that wants to do it differently then you it just makes it complicated and builds tension

True, so true. I have a friend who works very much the way I do...we haven't done much wrenching together in a long time, but I think I'm going to call on him when it's time to swap my trans...mainly to have an extra hand to help hump the heavy stuff, like the trans and transfer case. I'll probably just have him hang out and drink beer for most of the swap though lol

I did a Ford 250" into a Monarch with a jury-rig set-up using a come-along. W/O the fine lowering control of hydraulics,a friend was almost a necessity to put that one in.

I guess there are many ways of doing it.
