Default Hit in the ***

So today I was driving back home and the car in front of me abruptly stopped in front of me so I put on the brakes and slowed to a stop (I didn't stop abruptly) .. and there was a guy behind me driving a Honda Del Sol and he wasn't paying attention so I hear a loud screeching and he plows into my rear end.

You can't really tell that my truck has been in an accident, the rear bumper doesn't even have a scratch on it except that now it sags a bit. This really doesn't bother me since I am installing a roll pan tomorrow. What I want to know is, is the bumper connected to the frame? Is it possible that he could have bent my frame? Basically, I just want the worst case scenario of what kind of damage I would be looking at, if any. If I had to guess, I would say he hit me at 15-30 mph. I also got under the truck, and there don't seem to be any signs of damage .. where should I look for damage? Will there be any trouble installing my roll pan? What would cause the bumper to sag?

your bumper brackets SHOULD have absorbed the impact

So can the bumper brackets be damaged? Will that affect my roll pan or do they take those off anyways?

check you bed to cab gaps, you should have the same gaps if the frame is not bent.

I know when I had a s-10 years ago some one hit me in the same manner. You could barely tell the bumper moved. I could but had to point it out to the insurance guy. It also put a small scratch on the bumper. Anyways his insurance gave me like 1100 to get it fixed. So um... there is the cost of your roll pan and paint job on it..

I backed into a Ford Escort in my '01 Silvy (long story). Totaled the escort (it was a '91) and just bent the brackets on my truck.

some honda civic smashed into the back of my dads 04 Silverado Z71 about a year ago and did not even scratch the chrome bumper, smashed the hell out of the guys hood bumper lights grill etc . Though most of the impact was absorbed by our trailer hitch , Though it did make contact with the bumper it didnt do a thing to it or the rest of the truck

I was rearended twice in my previous 2000 Silverado. The first one did 1300 in damages. (he didn't have insureance) The second one really hit me hard. It made the bed hit the cab. (they had insureance) Drunk Mexicans right out of the titty bar....go figure. They also hit a ran, but didnt get too far away from me. I ran them down, and they bailed into the woods.
I don't know how much it cost to get fixed, but it did frame, bumper, bed, a few brackets and cab damage. It came out fine after it was fixed.
That truck lasted me 145,000mi until I traded it for current. The tranny was acting up then. No other problems though. They still gave me $7500 for it. It was very clean.
