Could happen to anyone, if not watching gauges. I remember back in high school (good olde days), someone ask me if a certain light on the dash is normal. The light was the low oil pressure, and it was on for a couple of weeks.

Hey did that guys motor fry? I had a perforated oil pump pickup tube in my truck...Dont know how it happened but it cost me like $500 to get it fixed. Good thing i checked my guages (and good thing for that supercool message center)
