This means VIN = 4.8 from what you're sayin. IDK what VIN 8 letter designation refers to on a 4.8. No, the VIN will never tell u if a motor was swapped. The 4.8 / 5.3/ 6L all have same external dimensions. Therefore, do some digging. Then tell us what u find.

Movin on, if u know 4.8 was originally what it came w/., & whoever they is (dealer, private owner), swapped in a 5.3, how else would it have got there? No offense, but what are u tryin to accomplish w/. this thread?

I certainly don't know everything, & never claim to, nor will I. We're all tryin to help u here, but are u messing w/. us or what?

Sounds familiar. OP, do that then.
Be nice Newbie Mod MOD. :nunchuk1: Give a some power & he thinks he's King ****.

Or throw it on the dyno and tell us what it makes, that would be easy enough to decide what it is.
How's EFI or HPT know that? I thought it's tied thru VIN? Maybe not tho. Cause if a 6L is swapped in place of a 4.8, what will tuning software say motor size is? That sounds mo betta.
Verification trumps dyno.

I don't understand how hard it is just to say if the VIN contains a 'T' or a 'V'

If it is indeed a stock 5.3, then you have not been lied to. The tune obviously has been changed if you were doing 120mph, but that doesn't mean it can't be a stock 5.3

How do you know you were over 120mph? the speedo only goes to 100.

If you scan a File doesn't it tell you the configuration of an engine? There's a couple tables in the config tables that have the type of engine, displacement, etc... I would think that the tune had to of been changed to reflect a new motor should that be the case.

Am I right or wrong?
