ok, Im about to go purchase a 07 Tahoe tomorrow but it has the flex fuel option..... what pro's and con's do these flex fuel options have??? Im more concerned about gas mileage.... I am not going to run ethanol on it, I am just going to run reg 87-89octane gasoline.... their will be NO performance mods other than a K&N filter and a custom tune, this is the wifes vehicle so I just want to get the best gas mileage I can out of it... the this that I have noticed is that the ones with the flex fuel show to give 16/21 and the reg engines show to give 16/22???
I need some suggestions/opinions quick cause I may go pick it up in the morning...
thanks....

The flex fuel alternative isn't woth it if you do the math. It comes out to the same as paying for regular 87oct fuel in the end.
The E-85 is 20-30cents cheaper, but it gets worse mpg's when using it. 2-3 mpg less.
The E-85 isn't available in too many places....at least not yet anyways.
I'd say forget the about the flex fuel option for this time around. I'd wait a few more years until it becomes more available.
E-85 is really just an environmental and profit front right now. It should be sold a lot cheaper than what it is being sold at right now. IMO.

I had my dealership (Munday Chev) search and locate exactly what I wanted, we then still worked a deal (I bargained $7,000 off the MSRP) on a truck not in the lot.
A good dealership or salesperson will get you what you want. They got me my VHO in less than 7 days.

get the flex fuel if you plan on keeping it until the wheels fall off. at the rate ethanol refineries are being built, the price will drop like a bomb. to many refineries, not enough demand say around 2012, or it could go up due to not enough supply, the US uses corn not sugar, how much corn can one grow? if the government gets their way, we all will have to convert our vehicles to e-85 within the next 15 to 20 years. don't use it in non e-85 vehicles, 85% ethanol, 15% gas means the non e-85 vehicles will start to corrode. e-85 is rated at 105 octane, but due to the chemical balance, it actually produces less bang than 87, if this makes sense to you, the vehicle computer will adjust to the fuel being used, advance timing and such. not only will you lose MPG, you will also lose on POWER, yes, less torque, less horses. i did a paper on this for college last sem, e-85 is a rip. use google, search e-85, go like two to three pages over. get the flex-fuel option, what can it hurt?
