Loosen ur lower balljoint, strike spindle with hammer to break loose the press fit of the balljoint. Remove swaybar end-links from LCA's. Then place floor jack under LCA to relive weight of truck, remove lower balljoint nut. Lower jack slowly, until spring is free. Take it out(my require a pry bar), mark it and cut it with a cutting wheel. Reinstall in reverse order. Hope that helps,Good Luck
sounds alot easier to rent a spring compressor from auto zone and spend an entire 2 minutes to compress it and pull it out. you can rent tools from auto zone for free. pay a 50 dollar deposit and get that money back when you return the tool

Not every one has an autozone around the corner.

its too bad our trucks arent like the wrangler i do work on. drop the shock and the suspension drops low enough to just reach in and grab the spring

If you take the spring out the back you dont have to mess with ball joints, and the spring will come right out.

I assume he is talking about putting a jack under the control arm and taking the LCA bolts off and removing it that way. I've heard of it done that way, but have personally never tried it. I've done it without using a spring compressor about 8-10 times now with no issues yet.

no, i've done it this way quite a few times without the compressor. just put the jack under the lca and take out the back bolts, then lower the jack. the spring comes right out the back. every compressor i used from autozone or orielys were dangerous and a pain in the *** to get the arms to stay on the spring.
