Default Ground for Gauge Cluster

Is there some central place that the gauge cluster is grounded? ON random intervals, my Tach, Fuel Gauge, and Temp Gauges just die completely. They will stay off for a couple seconds and then come right back on? The Voltmeter and Speedo don't do it. Also, the batttery light comes on in the message center, but the battery is new. What could be the problem? ANY suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

don't know what to tell you about the battery light, what's your voltage look like.... but the gauge problems sound like stepper motor issues. Serch for "stepper motor" and you should find plenty of reading.

It's not the cluster..I've swapped it out for a known good one and the problems are still there.

Get your hands on a schematic (maybe someone can post one up), and see what is common to those gauges...could be a ground like you mentioned, a wire that's hanging on by a thread, or poor pin fitment at one of the connectors.

I've heard of this a few times on here. I think it was a body to chassis ground under the door.

i remember reading about that a few times..
Unbolt the ground and clean the surfaces, reconnect and see what happens.
