I booked some dyno time this weekend so I can get my timing dialed in and get a good baseline number before any of the engine mods I have planned begin, I will be doing the tuning but a tech will be runing the dyno...
I have a couple of questions thou....
I talked to the owner and we both decided to do 2nd gear pulls to be on the safe side, honestly I don't want to spin my truck up to 130+ in 3rd.... So this means I will be doing 2nd gear pulls with the TC unlocked. I don't want to use the Bidirectional controls to lock the TC cause it will limit my resolution on the scanner. Will I still get accurate readings doing it this way? I don't care about the how high the numbers will be cause we all know dynos are just tuning tools.... Also I was planning on using my Wideband for the AFR for my tuning purposes. For the amount I am paying I will get 6 pulls with time for adjustments inbetween, seems pretty decent to me...
Should be fun, I have never tuned on a dyno before, BTW it is a dynojet dyno.... Any advice or tips???

It should be fun. When I had my 4.8 on the dyno with bolt ons, I had the timing up to 30+ degrees with out knock. I backed it down to 25 and made the best numbers. So my advise would be set the timing to 25, then spend the time working on the fuel.

sorry but waitin 30 seconds from the motor to go from 3000 rpms to 6000 rpms is kinda nerve racking..only time i do a 3rd gear pull is with nitrous..nitrous plus second gear equals a pile of rubber behind the rollers...besides hes not going for numbers..just tuning..
