gm crate engine in a new body style chevy

BTW nice truck! No swap is cheap if you do it right,
I agree that the "older" engine swap would be easier, easier meaning not messing around with any electrical stuff but a show truck wouldnt look right if all your guages were not funtional,SO now your spending money to make those work! The transmission would have to be beefed up 1800-3000 here! Not to mention the horrible gas mileage you would get with the old school motor, single digits for sure! Your not going to want a one wheel peel hot rod of a truck so here comes more money in gears and a nice posi LSD unit.
Get a complete LS1 or go with the iron block LQ9, the iron block will give you a deep tone with a nice lope with a cam.
Once you have a complete engine LQ9
buy the stock frame mounts for the motor
Buy a cam setup
Get a nicely built FLT tranny ----FLT65e i would recomend this one!
Contact Nelson Performance to purchase a tuned PCM
contact Current Performance Wiring to modify the Lq9's harness to work with the v6 fuse box.
Get your gears and LSD
and your exhaust setup
and be done with it!!
Start purchasing these things now, purchase an item now and then and before long you will be tossing in a bad *** package.
Man dont go old school, Theres a reason why you dont see them floating around in todays newer vehicles, THERE just not as dependable and they are gas hogs!

I get single digits in my stock '86 with a carbed 350, it's nothing to get excited about. I'd do the 6.0 or 5.3 swap, it would'nt be the easy thing to do, but if you're going for full show, it's the right thing to do.

Whats up JJ!!!.... nice to finally see you make it over here
-if you are wanting to do any kind of motor swap this is the place to get the info!!! I have seen a rcsb NBS truck with the ZZ572 motor in it... it was sick.

If you really want a BBC, it can be done. If I'm not mistaken, you should be able to drop it right in with the V6 mounts. I remember seeing a 502 in one of these trucks many moons ago, just don't have any information as to how it was done. If you're strictly going for show and don't care about mileage or performance, go with a BBC. If you want to make the truck a driver, I'd have to say stay w/ fuel injection. My LS1 runs mid 11's and still gets 15-17mpg on the highway w/ 4.11 gears.

totally go with a LS1 set up, you can make those things so powerful for what room you will take up.
www.LS2.com <--- if you want to research all you can do to that motor.
i wouldnt stick a carb in any vehicle these days. but that is my opinion.
what price range are you looking cause the options are endless, it just depends on what you can work with.
