Default gm crate engine in a new body style chevy

hey everyone.. i'm lookin to get some info on droppin in a gm crate engine into my truck.. i'm doin a full blown show truck with bags, body drop, and big wheels.. so space is gonna be an issue under the hood..

i'm wantin to do a 454 or somethin of that nature.. completely ditch all the electronic stuff.. i've heard of a few people doin it but only seen one thats been done and the truck doesnt run very well.. if anyone has any info could you let me know? thanks

what kind of truck do you have?

Why not throw a carbed Gen III in there, it will me make more power for cheaper.

You could still have a clean LS1 or whatever in there. If it was me I would keep all the electronics it will drive better and get better mileage andnot to mention more reliable. You can make a GEN III look good.

i could do an ls7.... if i completely ditched all of my other plans haha..

the reason i want an older engine is mainly due to the sound of them.. i love them..

i know NOTHING about engines.. i'm just tryin to weigh my options.. i know a 4.3l swap to a 5.7 swap is UP THERE in price.. and i've heard the old engines are way cheaper..

to be honest.. i mainly want the engine to sound like "VRRRROT>> VRRROT>>> VRRRROT" when its running and be able to go straight from a car show to a track and run a 13 or so

A good sized cam will get you the lope you're looking for in a gen III V8.
