Oldsmobile did the FWD V8 thing in the 60's with the Toronado. Why are they bringing it back?

It sounds cool to have a V8 back in an Impala or Monte... but... come on. FWD? That's disrespecting the huge SBC legacy.
My last DD was a 98 Monte Carlo Z34 3.8. It was a great driver, never gave me any trouble over the 6 years I had it, just brakes and maintenance. Had good low-end, and ran mid 15's no problem. I thought it was a good looking car with the NBM exterior.
That being said, it is good to be RWD V8! Cadillac has been doing the FWD V8 thing for a while now, and it seems to work for them. I think the Monte body is crying for RWD though.
