not sure which forum this should go in so im gonna ask here.
i have an 06 silverado with a 4.8 and in the future id like to swap in a bigger LS engine. so what im curious about is what mods can i do to my truck now that will also be useable after the swap, such as a handheld tuner, headers, etc ? thanks for any info guys

 

Any bolt ons will transfer between 4.8 , 5.3 , and 6.0 , such as headers , intakes, cams, But tuning won't.

Best to make a plan on what you want in the future so you don't waste money.

 

ive noticed the hand held tuners say they work with the 4.8, 5.3, and 6.0. seems i could buy one and tune my 4.8 and if i get a 6.0 later i could get the computer with it and set my tune back to stock on the truck to unlock the tuner and then tune the 6.0 after the swap. no ?

 

Hand held tuners are a waste of money, Tim is refering to a custom tune. We have many sponsors here that do custom tuning that could take care of you.
