Besides the crank reluctor wheel, you have the knock sensors at the bottom of the block instead of in the valley cover, the cam sensor is positioned in the front timing cover..... I believe that's the only differences.... May just have to lengthen a few wires for a few sensors! Not too big of a deal

The knock and cam sensor extension harnesses are 25-30 bucks a piece. Do a search for them, they're pretty easy to find.

Katech has one for $60 that's a 2 in 1 harness. Here's a good thread that tells you everything. How to Install an LS2 in an LS1 car

You'll want to remove the dod/AFM if it has it, your gen 3 harness cannot control any of that.

Cam sensor is on front timing cover on gen 4, at back of engine on gen 3. Crank sensors in same place.... Knock sensors as stated are on side of the block vs the center of the valley, and some gen iv have oil level sensor on pan some dont

thanks for the link ill look it over
Edit: after looking into it it seems i have to change the crank position sensor to the gray one and the cam sprocket to a 1x design not 4x that comes with the gen 4 block. Correct?

Yeah the only way to run without the box is to pull the crank and change the reluctor. I've never used the box so I'm not sure how well it works.
