Default Gauge options for a 99?

Just wondering which gauge clusters will work for a swap into my 99 silverado.

If the cluster is from a year newer than 99, you will get an air bag light. I have a Denali cluster from JPCustoms that has been modified to be compatable.

Is that out of a 99 esky, or were you able to modify it so the airbag light functions correctly?

I have a 99 with a 2002 escalade cluster. The 99-00 escalades were the old body style and the 01-06 escalades were the new style. Only a 01-02 escalade cluster will work for your truck. I have yet to figure out how to do the airbag fix and I know tons of people who have swapped to escalade clusters.

Apparently, the software is different in the 99 trucks' cluster's than the 2000 and up trucks'. The airbag light will stay on constantly.

I think that's right...anyone?

That is correct, not sure if it's software or the way something in the cluster is wired, but unless the cluster is modified, the airbag light will illuminate. The cluster I bought was pre-modified, so no problems here. It was a little pricey but was a direct plug and play.

The Escalade clusters are cool as hell, but they're never cheap. You can swap in a cluster from an HD like I did to get the trans temp gauge. And I know it sounds stupid, but the speedometer only goes to 100mph (versus 120 with the stock one) and the needle leaning way over at the same speed makes it feel faster!
