Confusious say, "Job and wife very different. Job still sucks after one year."

Now that is funny. How long have you been married?

For what it is worth, I've been married for 14 years (damn) to a very practically minded woman. To her, truck mods are just not practical. My advice to you single guys contemplating engagement/marriage is this, establish up front what it is that is important and meaningful to you, be it truck mods, hunting, fishing or whatever. It is best that she has a clear understanding of what hobbies you will be spending the family funds on. The same applies to you as well. New living room furniture can definitely affect you ability to get that new Radix or set of wheels. Good luck!

Funny you should mention hunting and letting your prospective wife know what you will be spending some of your free time and money on. My wife knows I went hunting when we got married and I dont spend much money at all going(mainly just gas driving 200 miles one way) because my dad lets me hunt as a guest for free at their club. Well since my daughter was born she will not let me go for even one weekend a month. Before you say anything, I am the one who takes care of our daughter all week because my wife works the night shift as a nurse. If my 2 year wants to get up 6 times a night(which she has been known to do), I have to get up too. My wife does have to sleep during the day, but she doesn't have to get up for anything, so at the end of the week sometimes I need a break. Hunting affords me that break because I can sleep late if i want to and sleep while hunting if I'm so inclined. To top it off, my dad is in bad health and i dont know how much longer he will be able to go and that's when we get to spend time together.

I don't spend money on truck mods right now because we are trying to save to build a house and I think i have a right to get some time away, how would you guys approach the situation?

Let her know you want to spend time with your dad doing what you both enjoy. She should understand that.

D@mn man, that is the strategy I used. When the wife and I were engaged, I made clear to her that buying/selling/trading/collecting guns is what I do so be prepared. She was understanding for about the first year of contributing to my "habit", then it started to wear on her. So I explained to her that every gun I buy is "money in the bank" so to speak. If times get tight I can sell a few of them to help us out. That was the magic line! Now everytime I open the safe she admires "our" savings account. Luckily I have never had to dip into that account! Now how can I use the same logic for a Radix?
