Hey i have a stupid question
im looking to replace my fuel filter in my 05 RCSB Sierra and last time i did an oil change i was looking all over the truck when i had it on the lift and couldnt find it. my dad, who is also my mechanic, cant find it either and he has a 2001 silverado and my uncle has an 04 silverado and they have replaced those but mine does not seem to be where theres was
any help would b appreciated

 

The 05 filter are located in the tank, it's one of those "never need to replace it part"

 

All 2004 and up GM trucks have the fuel filter in the tank. I can't remember if the 2003 trucks had it in the tank too.

 

My 03 Yukon still has the fuel filter mounted on the drivers side frame rail right around the transmission crossmember.

 

yeah it was 04 they got rid of the external filter.

in 2004 the went to the returnless fuel system (which sucks IMO) and put the pump, filter and pressure regulator in the tank

 

With the regulator being in the tank the fuel filter has to go before the regualtor in order to maintain proper pressure. If the filter was after it and it started to clog then you would starve the engine of fuel and go .....eventually
Non-return systems suck for any serious HP. I'm converting to return system Monday.

 

I was thinking the same thing, My Mechanic wasn't sure if it would throw any codes or mess with the Smog aspect. Have you check into how you are going to do it? is it going to be dificult. I know it can't be as simple as running a return line and puting the fuel pressure regulator back up on the fuel rail, Please take pictures and post up a how to,

I'll post what I can but remember, i'm in Alabama. I did away with the evap system when I went turbo. I'll be using most of the evap line for a return line and speed inc fuel rails.
