Default ford exhaust sound

Has anyone else noticed that fords tend to really sound good with a good catback on them, that little 4.6 sounds great on the trucks/mustangs, even the stock exhaust on GT's sounds good. Whats up with that theres got to be a reason for it.

Come to think of it Ive noticed Dodges tend to sound alot louder than other manufacturers, ford sounds deeper more rich, nissans tend to sound raspier and GM seems to be the quietest of them all.

I know sound doesnt make power just some observations.

the 4.6 tone is deeper because of the DOHC... dodge.. alot of them sound like crap to me...

That ford mod motor with a loud exhaust gives me chills! Definately the best sounding V8 IMO.

are you guys alright? fords truck engines sound like trash, the 5.4 sounds like ***, the v10 i wont go there. 4.8's and 5.3's are not that loud with exhaust but the 6.0 and 8.1 sound nice and deep and loud. I love driving by the ford boys who have exhaust with my truck and rattling their windows. I have to get you guys a vid of my truck cause it is deep as hell.

I think the best sounding fords were the 5.0 fox bodies. They sounded nice. 4.6 sound very good too, alot better than the 5.4s.

My buddies mach 1 sounded damn good with the borla on it. I really like the sound of a gm with the B&B system on it. Nothing beats the sound of a vette rolling by you with a nice catback. There was a vid out a while ago that had a bunch of vettes in it, and the ending was a guy standing on the side of the road taping a vette doing a high speed run. It gives me chills every time I hear it.
The old 5.0Ls sound really awesome too. I kinda like the way my truck sounds now!

It's all in the motor and head design. It doesn't have a ton to do with exhaust really. Well the exhaust will change the tones but fundamentally they start in the motor. The 5.0L was one of the best sounding motors IMO. I loved the sound of my old 87' GT, the blower helped some too.

The LS1 F-body is one of the most horrible sounding V8s I can think of. I hate how raspy it is. It wasn't as bad with the C5 and it's much different exhaust but only the LS6 equipt Z06 sounded good to me.
