i used to be a cop and hated it. i could not stand to be around the other cops because they were such butts to everybody. im not saying they are all bad but i think a lot of them are getting tired of putting up with peoples crap just like we all can get tired of in any job. some places require that you pace the vehicle for a minimum of a mile and at least 10 over the limit. here i believe it was 15. that way there was no denying it. it seems to me kind of like a license plate ticket. maybe they were looking for a truck like yours involved in something and just needed the reason to check things out. id probably be mad too. ive been pulled over for illegal use of audible warning device.....honking the horn

I don't care for the bad cop as much as the next guy but I have a ton of respect for the good cops out there.

I have to say most cops now are definatly young, cocky and on power trips. And they can lick the stitch.I have been pulled over for no tag and have been extremly respectful to them and they still wanna bust my *****.But it seems the older guys will give lil and give you the respect you give them.So to them Hats off

I've had a very few run in's with the cops, both the good guys and the guys on a power strip. One was when i first got my license and was young and dumb, I was going rather fast.. 56 in a 35. I noticed a cop turn around behind me so being the smart kid i was i tried to outrun him in a neighborhood. Lets just say that didn't work so well. The cop searched my vehicle and made me get out, started screaming at me saying you ever been to jail.. well now your gonna go.. and so on. All that came of the situation was a verbal warning and a promise from the cop.. He said "I know your father and I know he'll do worse things to you than I can... This is your one and only free-be because next time i won't be very nice" I was very lucky that time. A few things i did i think helped me, one was i treated him w/ respect saying yes sir and no sir to everything. The second thing was i did not show fear... I looked into his eyes when he was yelling at me and when ever i talked to him.. So the best advice I can give is no mater what the situation show no fear and give him respect.. thats the best you can do

First of all, I greatly respect the police and other law enforcement. I have considered a career in law enforcement, but some of the young guys with their power trips have driven me away from the idea. I was driving home from work last summer in a 2 lane backroad. There was a State Trooper driving about 15 mph below the speed limit in a 60mph zone. I pulled in to the left lane and started to pass him without exceeded the 60 mph limit. As I got along side of him, he decided he wanted to go 60 and left me hanging in the lane. I had no choice but to hit the brakes and pull behind him, or accelerate around, so I speed up to about 65. He stared and radioed ahead to another trooper who waited on me up ahead. I was then pulled over by both troopers. They both seemed to be in their lower 20's and proceeded to tell me that I can not just pull out and "blow an officer off the road". The roads had a few patches of water after a short shower and he told me "unsafe people like you cause accidents that kill". I was very annoyed at this point, but I kept my cool. Guys who treat innocent citizens like this present a bad image for all law enforcement.

I don't think it's fair to judge every cop because of your experiences with a few. That's like judging every black/white/mexican guy because one committed a crime. I'm sure law enforcement is just like any other occupation, you have your di<k heads and you have cool guys. The problem is that you only run into the a-holes. It's the cools guys that are busy doing real police work that you will never see, unless you are being a victim of some violent crime.

yeah, but all cops can all screw you over royally and there isnt much you can do about it. sure you can go to court, but still its the principle. nobody should have to waste time going to court over BS deals just because a cop was having a bad hair day.

Most of the cops Ive had run ins with have been cool,
the very first day I got my license when I was 16 me and some buds got my dads 86 f-250 and went and tried to buy beer, the cashier wouldnt sell it to us so we got a migrant worker to do it and she saw it called the cops and later they caught up with us after we had jugged some 40's in a parking lot and were hanging around. I got a 60 dollar ticket, told my dad and he said well I guess you better pay it. The ticket for buying beer underage in NC is 450 and community service so I guess I got off easy. When I was in the Navy I got pulled doing 90 in a 50, the guy saw my military ID and said "Son Slow the **** down, now get out of here" I guess Ive had good luck with cops.
Knock on wood.
But then again I have had a stack of speeding tickets and insurance companies that wouldnt insure me. Now I drive like grandpa

Just something to think about. But it does sound somewhat suspicious since they were on their cell phones, and it was a different officer that pulled you over.
