Default Firewall question

I got a question about the space above the a/c condensor on the firewall. I am finally adding my aux battery and fuse block. Is there any problem with putting a couple of screws in that space above the a/c condensor on the firewall, that comes out. It is a space about 2 or 3 inches wide. I know on older vehicles its just part of the cowl, but not sure on the newer ones. If you look it has a stud mounted there, but wanted to know if I will hit anything drilling in the same spot. This is on a 2004 silverado. Any help would be great.

Yeah youll have no problems...if it were me id screw into the plate thats there under the fender brace where the 2nd battery can go...that way you wont see the screws, just use 1/2'' self tappers nothing longer
