Default F!@#ing stupid instrument cluster

Has anyone figured out what is causing these little motors to quit????? I mean really GM come on!!! Mines been acting up for a while and i just flat out dont feel like fixing it, so today i went to get some stuff from town, like 15 min drive, and both tach and speedo are acting stupid. It seems like mine gets worse when it gets cold in the cab.

The early ones just had crappy motors. Only option is to get a complete new cluster or send yours in to get rebuilt. Early clusters were just duds some lasted a long time most croaked early.

I have the same problem.. In my 03 chevy somtimes the speedo reads way fast like when you shut the truck off it will stay at 60 and climb from there, it idles at 0rpm then runs about 65 at 700 or so lol or so it says..

My 04 gmc I pulled the cluster out to put a sticker in it and when I plug it back up my trans temp guage/and light behind it quit

If you have less than 70,000 miles the dealer will fix it for free as it is a recall issue.....if you are over 70,000 miles i believe you have to pay for labor only....i had mine done for free last year.

It's just the stepper motors behind the needles... they give out a lot. Mine often will stick like Garrett described, but it normally fixes itself within a few startups.
