In all my working on the 99+ silverado's I've seen one e/cab with a 4.8 5 speed. I was very surprised GM made one but I gues theu might be very rare.

I think you could only get the manual tranny with the 4.3 v6. i've never seen an ec with a manual tranny ever. I looked for one while trying to find my truck back in march. my uncle runs a dealership in east texas and he found nothing in the US that was a ec manual. only manuals were the 4.3 he could find at the time.

get a rcsb, do a 6.0/t56 swap. then you'll be havin a blast

Do you like rowing a boat? Thats what you will get with the 5-speed. I drove turbogibbs truck with teh 5 speed and I didnt like it. You arent going to get the sports car feel with the manual in the truck if thats what you are looking for.

1slow is right, the truck tranny absolutely hates being shifted quickly. I had an '01 4.3L 5spd RCSB and it felt about as sporty as Oprah Winfrey.

It will bolt up with a different flexplate I believe and you half to cut a different hole in the floor for the shifter along with a different driveshaft and I seem to remember something else about the crossmember. PM turbogibbs he did the conversion on his truck and he seems to love it. I would love to have his setup.
