Default exhaust for a Ranger?

My friend has a Ranger Edge with a loud flowmaster and wants to get a quieter muffler to appease the neighbors. I was thinking like a 5x8x22 Magnaflow or something similar. I have the 5x11x22 dumped and its pretty mellow - what would be a good choice for his 3.0? He needs something pretty quiet but free flowing.

is his truck dump?
did he hollow out the cats?
if it is dumped then if you took it out the back it shouldn't be as loud.
I had a ranger with a 40 series and dumped and it was loud as hell, you could here me 2 miles a way. slow as hell tho.
or change the muff out to a 3 chamber delta series.

His is dumped before the axle right now with stock cats+pipe size. What is the size pipe for the rangers? If he got a 3 chamber delta piped out the back would it be alot quieter?

Thanks

the three chamber is going to be quiter than the two chamber.
I would think it would be quiter going out the back because its not going to echo from under the truck.
another suggestion would be to stay out of the throttle around his nieghbors, that what i did.
