exhaust question

Default exhaust question

my exhaust started rattling really bad about a week ago, so i was just living with it until yesterday. it started rattling real bad... and about 5 mins later it poped a code. the code was 0101 does anyone know what this could be the cats

yep sounds like your cats went bad. crawl under and hit the cats and see if you can hear stuff rattling around in them.

shouldnt i have poped a code the code i poped was because of a dirty filter. so i need to clean it. but whats the going rate on a pair of cats

p0101 is MAF circuit.

ya. i took my airfilter off and cleared the code drove it up and down the street and the code stayed off so tomorow im going to auto zone to buy a recharger kit . but the thing still rattles like crazy and it sounds like its in the exhuast but if you tap the pipe with a hammer nothing happens.. so i am at a loss when cats go out do they normaly rattle

took it to my dealer and the dealer said that is is the cat. and that they cant cover it in warrentee because my muffler shop welded my catback system together. so they wanted $1000 to fix it. so my question is, is it against cali law to replace a cat yourself?
like if i were to buy a magnaflow cat and weld it in place would i still pass smog?

Legal?? who knows.. im from mississippi.. haha

Im sure it will pass.. and Magnaflow cats flow pretty good..

how would they know if a shop did it or you did? if it is there and passes on the sniffer i dont think you will have a problem.

got it fixed and the check engine light is still there. and i try to clear it and it wont clear.
