Which tranny does an escalade use with the 6.0 4L60E or 4L80E? Also is the 6.0 in the esky a LQ4 or LQ9? Just a few questions. Found a LQ4 in SDPC for like 3700 new!! Is this real? can i get one cheaper elsewhere besides the caca on ebay?

4l65e is the tranny in the escalade. The esc came with both the lq4 and lq9 the lq4 came in the base model and I believe the lq9 came in the all wheel drive variety. You can find a better price on a lq4. I would find a nice low mileage lq9 to put in your truck pm me if want details there are about a dozen to choose from with under 30,000miles and a couple in the low teens. 65e is a good tranny you get the 5 pinion planetaries which are about 450 by themselves if you can find one of those jump on it if it is at a decent price and in good condition.

Cool. Is the LQ4 the hipo 6.0l? Is that the only difference between a 60E and a 65E? just the 5 pinion planets. The $450 are hardened correct and can handle the LQ4 with some boltons and a cam without a problem right..Built that is? Maybe a shot of GEEGLE GASSSS!!??

The awd esc comes with a 65e. Nelson could probably hook you up with one. You want factory gm 5 pinoin planets they are the best they are powdered steel so they are strong. Yes the trannyw ill hold up to the power with a shift kit 5 pinion planets hardened output shaft sungear shell and a set of good clutches and you should have no problems I spent 3 grand on my tranny and I feel that it will take the abuse of a 500hp 6L and a 225 shot. I guess I will see how it will hold up testing should be in about a month.

Heck yea. Do you know if a 4L60E, 65E and 80E are all of the same bolt pattern that will bolt up to any block. What i mean is can an 80E bolt up in place of a 60E ( NOt including moving the tranny crossmember, wiring harness, yada yada yada) Just as far as the flexplate and the back of the motor.

I believe you have to get a different flex plate but the bellhousing will bolt right up. I would go the 65e route it is cheaper and with the right parts will last. you arent going to be pushing 600hp anytime soon to warrant the extra expense and power loss of the 80e. The 80e will suck up about 50hp but it is also bulletproof so you ahve to decide what your goals are and what compromises you are willing to make.
