Default Engine noises (problems)

It is a rattling type of sound, metallic in nature and definitely corresponds to engine revolution. My brother-in-law and I both agreed it's definitely not a rod knock. The noise sometimes can be loud, sometimes is quiet, sometimes you don't hear it at all. I noticed no driveablity problems at all.

I pulled the tranny because we thought it was the flexplate. . . no dice. Flexplate is fine.

I did checked the tranny for metal, just in case. . .but nothing. I'm going to drain the engine oil and check it, and check out the valvetrain tomorrow.

Anyone have ideas?

As I mentioned in another thread I've got a very similiar noise. I am not 100% certian I don't have a TC issue. Is it a OE converter?

We got the transmission back in today. While it was still up on jackstands, warming up, I got underneath to listen to the noise. It is coming from the transmission, a rattling type sound and sounds like a heat shield banging around

Obviously, it looks as though it is a tranny problem and I don't know how much longer it will last. I guess I will call FLT tomorrow.

Long story short, i was going to leave it at the tranny shop. Didn't like what I was hearing in price (labor or parts). Still don't know the problem and looks as though I never will.

So I ordered from Chuck today. Level 4. I'm just gonna R&R and drive on and be happy.
