The LS1 (5.7) are Alum, the 5.3 in the Trailblazers are Alum, Starting in 05' the Silverado got a HO package that included the L33 Alum 5.3, just note that they do still offer the normal Iron 5.3 as well. All the 4.8 are Iron and the 6.0 is also Iron except for I believe the LS6 6.0 which is Alum.

You would have a Iron block in yours.

Minor correction, the LS6 is still a 5.7, the LS2 is the aluminum 6.0 motor.

So....to summarize...

LM7 - iron 5.3
LM4 - iron 4.8
LQ9 - iron 6.0
LQ4 - iron 6.0
L33 - aluminum 5.3
LS1 - aluminum 5.7
LS2 - aluminum 6.0
LS6 - aluminum 5.7
LS7 - aluminum 7.0

With the exception of the L33, I think all the truck motors are iron. If we get into the SUV's I'm not too familiar, someone else will have to chime in. All I know is that the Trailblazer SS uses the LS2.

I don't know what the code is for the alum. 5.3 that's in the Trailblazer, so that's omitted from my list.

Did he just never look at the enigine, or am I the only one how has some rust on the engine?? Rust=>Iron

They are the same block size though. Thats why the 6.0 swap is so popular.

I always get the LS6 and LS2 confused.

Btw, your list looks better than mine.

I believe you are correct, as the 4.8 should be LR4.

The LM4 is in the Trailblazer/Envoy
