Default Easy boltons for 2000 Tahoe?

New to the SUV seen and I have no idea where to begin when it comes to getting the Tahoe to move a little quicker...

My g/f raced the tahoe last month and put down a best time of 17.3s which is a little better than what I had first though it would do, but I'd like to give it a lil more zip.

It seems okay in first and second in town, although from an idle it isn't exactly snapping the tach.
On the hi-way its shifting out of overdrive an very small inclines.

Milage on the hi-way is great, averaging 600-6500kms per tank. We were told that the truck gets 26mph on the hi-way which seems a bit high to me, but at 1800rpm @ 105km/h tells me it has some taller gears.
In town its not so good... Looking at around 250-300km/tank.

Now I was told that the 5.3L blocks in these vehicals is pretty much the same at the LS! Fbody blocks, only different heads, intakes and such...

If the above is true... would a used yet good condition set of 241 heads from a LS1 be a nice dirrect swap for a few ponies... or am I out to lunch?
I was looking at some aftermarket heads maybe next year for my 2001 t/a and thought I could just use those heads in the tahoe.

I'd certainly be interested in any other low-buck suggestions for helping this lead brick pickup a few tenths...
We're 5 hours away from a shop that could offer tuning or a dyno service, but know someone with HP tuner software who might be able to provide a street tune if need be.

Would the search results from 10 days ago, show the results of a post made only 3 days go?

I made this post on the 16th, so a post 3 days ago would have been made on the 23rd.

As the one person mentioned, I too have tried to search for 5.3L bolt ons and a lot of the threads are reffering to newer motors, or thier going S/C, nitrous, ect, ect...

Not looking to run down some DSMs in the 1/4 mile, but I am looking for more power for every day driving.. as it is now, if I go over a slight rise in the road, say a 2º incline over 500'.. I'm in 3rd (drive).

I'm 5hours from the nearest dyno so getting a tune that way isn't much of an option for us.

One person mentioned headers, but trying to keep a low low budget.

Do these "wait4me" tunes come with swapable PCM's? IE: Can you just order one and send your core out..
I've never herd of the company so I know nothing about them or what people think of them. Price seems REALLY cheap though.. is that a bad sign?

Right now the truck is peeking on 156,000kms, but just lacks any sort of get up and haul.

How difficault are engine swaps with these

Maybe down the road if it woofs its cookies, I could look into that...

your tahoe is just like all the other LS based trucks here. The mods are the same. Look at other peoples sigs and see what they have done Get a good mail order tune from wheatly (member here just search his name) remove some of your torque management and that will help you get more HP and much better drivability. The next thing to do is a cam, Torque converter, and headers.

Thanks. I'll have to troll around a bit more.

I've spent lots of time on ls1tech.com, but new to this side
