X2. Nor do I find dropping the tank particularily difficult. I have done it via removing the bed and dropping tank.... I will take the tank. A lot simpler than rusty bed bolts imo.

DING! Winner... I have a access hole in my 2002 - I have a plastic bedliner in it with my tool box over the hole so there is nothing that ever gets loaded on top of it. Dropping the tank is a bitch and so is taking the bed off

if you drop the tank gather up spare gas cans and get a cheap electric transfer pump and get all the gas out, way easier and faster than siphoning and it makes the tank really easy to manage.

If you have 1/4 tank or less it takes practically no time to just drop it...that's what I did when I put in my AM 340

Bi pass the relay under the hood, and empty the tank with the old fuel pump. Unless its completely dead. Mine was just very weak.

Ive changed a fuel pump on the side of the road in my buddys 1500HD.. took a jackstand and a big block of wood.. unbolted the bed, picked up teh driver side and placed the jackstand and block of wood between the bed and frame. Got under there and swapped the fuel pump assembly and bolted the bed back down.

Ive pulled the bed off my truck twice, i like using the jackstand method better. alot easier.

I have changed flat tires in shitty weather on the side of the road but I think this beats that

Well i guess i should have put that we were on the side of the road about 30-40' off in the grass.. when his truck started acting up he just went off the side of the road close to a parking lot and he caught a ride with a friend to work. we went and changed the pump out when he got off work.

This is basically how i did mine, only in a buddies garage. I just slid the bed back about 3" so it didn't get into the cab, picked the bed up and slid in some boards.
