whats it take to run E85 on a truck that didn't come from the factory? i know its possible cause it seems like more people are running on it.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it is mainly just the tune. E85 requires more volume also, so if you are making decent power you would need bigger injectors to support the extra volume.

X2, tune and then you'll likely need injectors. Fuel pump may or may not be okay...

so the fuel lines and varrious o-rings are good to go? how would i know if the fuel pump would be ok?

You'll need more pump, more injector, and a re-tune. Lines and everything are fine ethanol isn't damaging. Methanol is.

Why run E85? It seems more expensive and waaaay harder to find.

ok, thats good, going to be waiting till i get a cam and long tubes. Methanol may be where some of my confusion came from.

have about 5 stations in my daily commute, which average around $3 a gallon.

It's cheaper around here. It's good to use for cheap race gas, but you get less mileage out of it because it has less energy per unit than gasoline. All in all, the savings are minimal if anything, however... if you're running boost, it's usually around 106-110 octane.
