Default Drivers...any real ones out there?

I live in Palm Beach County and I think we must have the greatest concentration in the nation of Escalades, Avalanches, Suburbans, Navigators, Mercedes, BMW, and Lexus SUVs, as well as Jaguars, Porsches, S600s, and everything else that sells for about $100K. All that hardware doesn't bother me, but most of the drivers do. 99% of them are always on their cell phones, driving at 10 mph under the posted limit, wandering from lane to lane with no concern for other vehicles as they try to steer their beasts while they dial for their tee times or spa appointments. Or if they are parked, it's right in the fire lane or crosswalk of the store they are waiting in front of for their spouses to come out...too lazy to walk from a parking space A couple of those behemoths parked in front of a grocery store and you can't even see the building. They all seem to think that they are privileged.

I'm curious...what's it like in other areas of the country? I've been all over the US on either business travel or vacations and it didn't seem as bad elsewhere, at least it didn't in Montana. Is there any place remaining where it's actually fun to drive (and it doesn't snow)?

Here in the good old MS delta, we have people driving around with car parts falling off of the car as it is driving down the road. I just love dodging someone's rear bumper when it falls off of their 80s model Celebrity.

i almost pushed a dodge mini van out of my way today as she constantly hit her breaks at every opportunity. no one was in front of her either. but in general, the weather decides how people drive around here. most of the time it's ok.

That's it exactly. Same on the water here with boats, too. I was hoping for some better reports (sigh). I'm actually looking forward to the day when I can retire, move somewhere else, and not drive a truck for defensive purposes. I'm really a sports car fan, but have to drive something here that can be seen by all the old folks (onyx, you got nothing on us...they come here at 80, buy a land yacht and, after a lifetime of public transportation, are just learning to drive), and that can survive an accident with them when they turn across the oncoming traffic at the intersections. So for now I have to live with a truck and try to get performance out of it. It's not so bad, the power is OK, I actually haul lots of stuff in it, but they just don't handle like a two-seater that can do close to a G on the skid pad.

I was hoping someone would say "Hey, it's great here, you can drive at 80 all day, the cops don't care, and the roads are well surfaced and have turns every 1/4 mile (we have turns here every 1/4 mile, but they are all construction detours)." I just don't want to have to retire in Montana. Nice folks, but way too cold.

I live in the San Antonio area and the drivers are as bad here as any urban area,I guess. Florida must be worse with all the older drivers. Bad drivers really make me angry (too angry) also.
There are areas in this state where there is very little traffic...large parts of west Texas. Other western states are similar. Large ranches and such...very low pop. density...you can drive in peace. Not good places to break down, though.
The coasts are so populated,it makes it a chore. Kentucky must have a lot of illegals, like here...no insurance and such.

I now live in a retirement community called Bella Vista Ar. {the land of golf and viagra} Most of the roads are two lane through curvy roads in the mountains. Anyone that has road rage needs to stray away from this place. No trying to be mean but i think yuo should HAVE to be tested at a certain age for motor skills and driving ability. JMHO
