Default door trim

I have been thinking about taking of my door trim but I am worried about if i do that the paint under it will stand out too much. I have waxed my truck a couple of times but i am still worried about sun fading.

Horse ****...It is not on a flat surface such as a hood so don't sweat it...It might have a slight color difference but it won't be much....The other will fade fast too so don't worry about it on that rock hauler....

I've got a few cans of Krylon paint at the shop.If it's faded we can fix it right up... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" />

i've had my truck since november of '00. and its had MANY coats of wax and buffings through that time. I took mine molding off a month ago. Just use adhesive remover (available at auto paint and some hardware stores) and a rag, it'll come off just fine. At fist there was a slight color difference, but it wasnt noticeable untill you looked really hard. I just buffed the whole area and its perfect.

but don't be stupid like stoopidfly4.8. you gotta let the area heat up in the sun first. or else you'll spend all day getting the left over adhesive off.

I just read that the color difference may be because of surface contaminants that washing will not fully remove. They recommended a clay bar treatment. A clay bar treatment would take a while though, so I am just going to do mine from the rocker up to the body line. The body line will hide any slight difference there might be. I wasn't sure if this was a real post or a joke but anyway that's what I read.

like 1stoopidfly said, he had his truck for 3 years and took the molding off about a month ago. we couldn't tell there was ever anything there. i took mine off at about a year after getting my truck and i couldn't tell there was anything ever there either. i think simple washing should take care of it. if not clay bar will for sure and that's a good idea to only do it from the body line down til you get the time.
