Default Door lock

On my 99 chevy the power door locks will lock automaticly at around 20mph,but I have to unlock them when I want to get out. Question is, is there a way to get them not to lock automaticly or can I make then unlock automaticly. Called the dealership they said that they could do it for $70 if they can do it why can't I.

I remember seeing instructions in my owners manual for my '02. Check in there.

Look in your owners manual and it tells you how to do it. There should be a few different combo you can do.

I think that the 99's require the TechII in order to reprogram the locks, and 00 and up can be done by the driver, but I'm not completely sure.

My '00 owners manual tells how to disable it and whatnot. 99's might be different, so once again here's another post of someone that doesn't know. At least we're entertaining, huh?

Disabling Automatic (Rolling) Door Lock Feature

Important
The feature may be turned off and covered under warranty on a one-time only basis. The system can be re-enabled (turned on) again at customer expense.

Connect the Tech 2 to the vehicle.
Select Service Programming from the Tech 2 main menu screen.
Identify the vehicle (year, type, fuel system).
Select Request Information (left soft key).
Select Reprogram Existing Module. Verify the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
Disconnect the Tech 2 from the vehicle.
Connect the Tech 2 to the Techline Terminal. Follow the terminal instructions.
Select Service Programming System from the main menu.
Select Terminal to Tech 2 as the programming method.
Select Program Truck Body Controller.
Select Calibration with Automatic Door Lock Functionality Disabled.
When the action is complete, disconnect the Tech 2 from the terminal.
Connect the Tech 2 to the vehicle again.
Select Service Programming from the Tech 2. Complete the vehicle ID.
Select the Program soft key (second from the left). When the Programming Successful screen appears, press the Exit key.

That is correct. The 99's door locks can only be programmed to either lock at 20mph or not auto lock at all. There aren't any other options.

If that bothers you enough I think you could change your BCM and get control like the newer trucks. I think ive seen some other member do that and got control over their daytime running lights etc...
