Lightbulb Does your steering wheel lock in place?

You know how most cars when you take the key out the steering wheel will lock in place, my 2006 Silverado Crew Cab has never done it since day one, is this normal for these trucks.

First time with a full sized truck so I just don't know...

I don't have any problems with the steering, it just doesn't lock in place, kinda weird, I thought all cars/trucks did it...

2003 and newer do not have a steering lock with ignition off. why they removed it is beyond me. This has been confirmed by me when installing my headers (disassembled the steering column to make it easier) and by a friend who referenced his shop manual.

I have a 2004 and the steering wheel locks.
I would imagine they would remove the locking wheel for safety, When I was a kid a friend of mine was srewing around when I was driving and turned the ignition off and the wheel locked. very scary.

No lock here on 05' VHO. I think GM was trying to save some money.
They seem to like to cut corners a bit lately! Especially on the 05-current trucks. I guess they are saving up for the new bodied 07' Silverado. We just get the *** end of it!

do you mean doesn't lock? plus the key won't turn all the way back on the vehicles that do have the lock, the vehicle has to be in park, or in the case of a manual tranny you have a release button to hit before it locks the wheel
