Does Your State Require Emissions testing?
#33
we do have the plug in OBD scan as well as visual, but until the government can get their ducks in a row, the emissions test doesn't mean anything, you can have a CEL on and still pass. Not to mention I have my inspection license so if I'm ever not broke and actually do some work to the truck, it will pass regardless anyhow haha.

I call Oregon home and my fellow Portland-metro area residents and I must have our vehicles checked by the local DEQ police. Washington tentatively adopted CA's emission laws but only if Oregon followed suit. (basically, adding the regulation of CO2 emissions - I guess exhaling is next...) This spring, Oregon's governor, in his infinite wisdom, decided to make an end run around the legislature and adopted CA's DEQ standards. The Californication of Oregon continues...

New Jersey has the OBDII plug in test on vehicles from 96 and up. Older than that gets run on the dyno with the sniffer in the tail pipe. There's also the visual emissions inspection, gas cap test (if I remember correctly), and safety inspection which includes a brake test on a skid pad, suspension check with a machine that jounces and rattles the suspension, plus a visual of the lights, checking for tint, cracked lenses, windshield damage, body damage that may injure a pedestrian,...the list goes on. I usually bring a 24 oz. coffee and a sandwich (or two
) with me when I go to inspection...it's frickin rediculous
