Does dot-to-dot = #1 cylinder @ TDC?

Default Does dot-to-dot = #1 cylinder @ TDC?

As it says, when you line up the cam and crank gears up dot-to-dot, is the piston in cylinder #1 at top dead center? I believe it is, I'm just looking for confirmation.

if the dot is up the piston is up. if the dot is down the piston is down.
