Default Do I run it at the track?

Do I run it at the track. I have the 72" driveshaft that let go on me on the dyno at 124MPH and grenaded my tranny at the same time for me. Couldn’t find anything better (no one makes that length aside from OEM) and I now have the 6.0L in there as well. I'm figuring with mods I could be in the 14's with low 100 speeds. Definitely don't want to grenade a 2nd tranny (I think the wife would kill me) but man I am ittttching. Couldn't find a DS loop that would work on the 5" DS, and haven't gotten around to getting a custom one fabbed up yet, so that's going against me too. Risk vs reward, risk vs freaking reward. Maybe I just get it all straightened out over the winter and then hit it up in the spring? I'm so indecisive

You would probably be fine, considering drive shafts go out on the dyno a lot, Ive yet to see someones drive shaft go out on the track. You could do it and if you don't want to risk to much just do 1 or 2 runs. Im not running tomorrow at the meet cause my cam is getting spec'd at thunder racing, so its looking like next spring for me for sure.

Id run it. Get a driveshaft loop installed so your gas tank straps dont end up like mine. You might consider getting another aluminum one made. Ill talk to the guy in my carclub and ask him where he had his made. It was like 300 shipped to his door with yokes. Its not a Denny's but its a nice peice.

With such a long shaft, the harmonics are too great for steel. You will feel every shimmy, shake and vibration that your truck makes. Its a little overwhelming and not fun to drive. Take it from me. I have a 300 steel driveshaft sitting in my garage...never to be used again.

Well, I'm back. I pussed out. The memory and wallet impact was just too much...but man I wanted to! Yeah, ask where it was made if you could. I can't find anyone who makes one at a 5" Diameter, which is what I need for it to be ok. I think my plan is to try and get this one high speed balanced and get driveshaft loops. I don't even think a 2 piece is an option with my gas tank, I checked that this afternoon. I'll probably have to wait till next spring, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.
