Try telling that to the guys who don't get anywhere near those ratings. EPA rating is over rated.

Word, even with the more "realistic" ratings, they're still far-fetched.

I really like my 1500hd LQ4/80e/14bolt. The thing I like about the HDs is the trans temp guage. I got 13 city and 15 hywy with the 3.73. Now with 4.56s I get 14 city and 14 hywy all day. If I had to do it again I would still get the heavy duty drivetrain, but I haul different **** all the time. I recently towed a F350 RCLB 4x4 on a tandem axle trailer with zero issues and 13 mpg's.

With my setup I could average 15.5 in town. and that's with a 3000 stall behind a LQ4 in a 1500.

90% of my driving is in town back and forth to work.. but on decent trips to my aunts house It would linger in the high 23s and every now and again break 24.

Towed a 89 camaro to the track and then made 4 passes, my friends Cobra blew the diff so I towed him home and averaged 10.5mpg the whole trip and I wasn't being easy on the go fast pedal.

But right now I'm puttin a 4L80E in with the stock converter. hopefully she will get a lil better in town. we will see.
