did GM ever paint the 99-02 GMC grilles??

I got the same color paint, but I used this to apply it - http://www.prevalspraygun.com/

I sprayed a couple coats of black, then a couple coats clear.

My factory paint code as shown here is 14 (14U actually), and it was available in the 11 oz spray. The can says Truck & SUV paint. Pics when I get home

ya 14U is what mine is to
ya 11oz should be enough right? i know the 5oz even though they dont have it anyways wouldnt be enough

you guys didnt use enamel did you... that will strip the primer off wont it, i presume you just used gloss?

i forgot to ask you guys did you guys sand the texture off or just scuff and shoot

I scuffed it with Scotchbrite and sprayed it. I figured the smoother it was the more chance I had of fuggin' it up

im def gonna try it this weekend, if worse comes to worse if f it up... like i said i was plannin on buyin a new one anyways so fug it

I wish you the best of luck but i know you'll like it and it will turn out great. my whole front end is painted to match and it used to have the fake chrome grill shell. Although I had mine done at a shop, it shows you can do it 6 months, no problems

I've had mine painted for about 4 years now and I've had to touch it up a few times. The issue is rock chips. We use a plastic primer and adhesion promoter, but when a rock chips it, the surrounding area starts to flake. It gets worse and worse as it keeps flaking off. Washing it and running a sponge or towel over it make is worse. If you keep up on the chips then everything will be fine.
