I work at Circuit City and most people say stay away from us and bestbuy, but if the installers care about their work they can do a good job.. we do a ton of stuff and hardly ever have anything come back.. but we've got some real good guys.. and if you are going to go retail i would definitely take a look at the infinity's that We sell.. but you can get them about 40$ cheaper on ebay lol.. BTW these trucks are some of the easiest to install speakers to, if you could do it yourself would save you 35-40 bucks right there..

Anyone got any work done by the guys at Best Buy? Thinkin about runnin down there one day and seein what they can do for me.

Thanks guys.
save you money install it yourself and buy em off ebay.........it is easy to isntall spkrs and they are usually 50-80 bucks cheaper off ebay.........if you have any questions just ask someone will help you.........the sizes are 4x6 in the rear and 6 and 3/4 in the door.............most ppl use a 6.5 compnent set in the front.....since there arent very many spkrs available in a 6 and 3/4 form

i've tried a few different speaker combos in my doors and believe it or not i think the stock ones sounds the best. I have the stock ones in it right now. i'm tried alpine, kenwood and sony. i've also tried stock bose speakers out of another silverado and they didn't sound good. i'm running Kenwood Excelons in the rear pillars.

You an me brother! i hate those speakers with a passion Hahahaha

Then again, car audio is very subjective. Everyone hears differently so what sounds good to one person can sound too bright or too subdued to someone else. Me i hate supper tinny highs, the kind that reminds me of nothing more than sizzling bacon. LOL Give me a nice Silk Dome tweeter

IMO if you are gonna run a decent little amp then the new Diamond Audio CM361s sound good and drop right into the door since they are oversized and the crossover is built into the speaker. Pretty cool setup...

If you are not going to run an amp the JL Audio TR650-cxi work well too but might not be bright enough if youi are a treble freak.

The stock speaker suck IMO... You just have to get something better than your run of the mill Sony, Pioneer, Kenwood, and bascially any other Japanese speaker.

The Best Buy guys here I wouldnt let touch my truck with a 10 foot pole. However, the Circuit City guys are top notch. Id trust them with my stereo. Nice guys..

or basicly anything they sell at CC and bestbuy, although if ur bestbuy now has the magnolia HiFi, they carry some good stuff. although a brick and mortor store ( any actual store ) charges way more than the speaker costs.
I used to work for CC for a while and employee cost was 50-60% less on speakers. I hit up online retaliers and ebay now for all my needs.

oh yeah, Ill put in a vote for crystal CSc 60S 6.5", you can find them for a good price online and sound good. ( like here http://www.mmxpress.com/crystal/crystal_components.htm

Also honestly to do it right nomatter what you should run atleast a small amp ( 50-75w x2 RMS) on your front speakers, the difference in sound is like night and day. Even if your running and aftermarket Deck that says somthing crazy like 60x4 thats a max rating not an RMS which is usally around 20x4. but even then the headunits use an IC amp ( think a microchip that powers ur speakers ) as opposed to an amp with descrete amp stages that use larger tranisitors/powersupplies/capacitor storage etc etc. that have much better current handeling, headroom, dampning, THD, transient response,....overall more musical.

Now I realize that its looking like every one is telling you to spend a ton of money but getting a cheap amp from ebay like a hifonics 4000 for 100 bucks and some good componts for like 130-150 ( not at CC or bestbuy prices ) you will be really glad you did and could probably never go back to what you had.
