Default Dash peeling on 04 silverado

I just bought an 04 silverado and the dash is peeling. It looks like a very thin coating is peeling off in a few spots. Has anyone had any problems with the dash?

the dash is a painted surface, don't use harsh chemicals to clean it - it only needs a damp rag to wipe down. People have been reporting this problem with 99+ trucks for a while, some "protectants" are actually reacting with the dash paint causing damage, it's not vinyl like the old days

Well I just got it. I bet carmax used something powerful to clean it and screwed it up. It's still under the gm warantee. Do you think I can get it replaced under warentee?

Take it to the dealer and ask if they will replace it under WARRANTY.

ArmorAll products lead to the dash peeling ****!!! My friends 2000 did it horrible and he used ArmorAll all the dam time. You could peel the paint off easily with a fingernail. 303 Prodcuts makes a cleaner/protectant that to date have caused me zero problems with my dash. After 4 years!

the dealership warrantied mine but a few weeks later i left an air freshner on the dash up by the vents and forgot about it, when I saw it up there it was to late and the dash already started peeling from the heat i guess. Take it off and color match it to the outside color of your truck, it would look better and last longer IMO

Hmmm, I'm glad I haven't used anything on my dash. I just wipe it off with the California Dash Duster.
