Well........... How things unfold if you just keep at it. My oil leak was a combo of the oil cooler blockoff gasket on the drivers side of the block and the left side inner CV Axle seal slinging.

At first it was a few droplets of dark oil on the garage floor. A what I call a "less than thorough" inspection, seeing it dropping off the oil drain plug and starter bolt heads, blamed it on the worst case scenario rear main seal.
I kept letting it go because it didn't even loose a 1/2 qt in 3k+ miles, and couldn't find a shop I trust to have an open appointment. And long in the tooth age now I couldn't motivate to do it myself.
Six months later and the droplet numbers increasing, I began to see a second pattern on the floor to the right that was more transparent and I found the inner CV Axle seal. It has been slinging and clinging a while but finally leaked enough to drip. That 80W-90 doesn't clean off nice.

The bullet I dodged and I bet lots of innocents catch is I almost let a shop have it but his demeanor put me off in the end as untrustworthy. He sold himself like a carnival attraction doorman. I can see him running up a nice bill.
Thanks for the input guys.
