Crankshaft Pos Sensor Leak, Oring or Do They Cack?

@$80.00 for a GM sensor, I wonder if its normally just the o-ring or do they leak for other reasons.
I'm hoping my rear main seal appearing to be leaking is actually this sensor. I'm changing the inner CV axle seals on the front diff so while shes in the air I'm gonna pull the starter and have a look.

If you find it leaking, don't replace it with a POS cheap one. I put in an Oreilly's store brand sensor that only lasted about 2 years and failed electrically. I only put that one in to fix what turned out to be a broken wire. There's no reason why a sensor should not last 20 years.

Rock has it for $60 and the same sensor is on amazon for $40, GM brand, not aftermarket.

Happy Thanksgiving guys and thanks. 130+k miles on her.
I had Riley's try to tell me their brand is as good or better but not me. I have a Charger R/T and have learned on those boards there is "no" aftermarket sensors recommended, and plenty of reported failures fixed by going OE. Same here I see.
I guess since I'll have the starter off I'll swap it out anyway.

Rock Auto is at least coming from an automotive supply warehouse.

Unfortunately Scamazon is susceptible to Chinese counterfeits of OEM products. Unless you have them side by side with a known good one, it's very hard to tell the difference.

Scamazon
Agree 100%.

Fair enough. Sometimes there's dead giveaways like the Mopar TPMS sensors I got that came in seal-a-meal style bags instead of boxes, and were already assembled, complete with tiny black specks stuck to the potting material. Something tells me they were.. uh.. gently used. ;) Sent 'em back for a refund and bought from a dealer instead.

The canister purge solenoid I just bought was advertised as "GM Genuine" and it is stamped "Delphi" right there in the plastic body, but it came packaged simply wrapped in a piece of foam............... and now I'm wondering if I even got the right one. GMPD lists both 12581282 and 1997279 and vehicle fitment on both includes the 2006 SS 6.0, so why does Rock only show the GM 2141105 which crosses to 12581282?? I bought the 1997279. Or whatever China sent. ;)

A friend of mine purchases from Scamazon as well and he found out the hard way. The parts even came in AC Delco boxes that were almost identical to the parts I purchased through the dealer. The parts from Scamazon didn't last long...

Plain packaging is a dead give away of a counterfeit part.

I think the 12581282 is the correct part based on what I found. ACDelco #214-1105

Thanks Guys, I replaced the seal in my right side CV inner that was slinging and cleaned everything up and test drove. I'll mirror the sensor tomorrow. Not mistaking one for the other. I had the oil leak before the CV inner seal. I'll post back the final.

I ditched scamzon 6mos ago.counterfeit SS relay and an audio extractor that was not as advertised and a few other things over the years. Prime content is really lousy, it all adds up. They ignored my return request for the previous said for over a year. When I killed the credit card on the account and canceled all things scamazon low and behold refunds came in. I'll never go back.
