Crankcase ventilation issue
So I swapped lifters and cam in my L59, 2004 Suburban. One of the lifters failed and scarred the cam.
Now I have a new issue. This thing smokes like crazy if it sits and idles, but clears up when I drive it above 2k rpms. I changed the intake gaskets, cleaned out the intake (had lots of oil), and also swapped the passenger valve cover with a spare I had.
One thing I noticed is if I pull the driver crankcase vent line that goes from the valve cover to the intake, it has substantial vacuum pulling from the intake. If I pull the line that goes from the passenger valve cover, there is almost no change in idle or vacuum sucking on the intake port (the one just behind the throttle body).
Should I be getting a substantial vacuum draw through that hose? I would imagine so.
Thanks for looking, and yes, I've been searching for this remedy for a few days online.
